Before cleaning the attic, it’s important to wear appropriate protection gear to go into the attic. This includes gloves, a N95 mask or better, disposable coverall, and safety boots. Wearing proper protective gear is essential for protecting your health and safety. To clean the attic, you must use heavy-duty garbage bags to collect and dispose of all raccoon fecal matter and any contaminated insulation or materials found in the attic. Once all contaminated materials are removed, disinfect and deodorize the affected area to eliminate bacteria, viruses, and parasites such as raccoon roundworm. If insulation is heavily contaminated, it should be replaced with new insulation.
The cost of attic cleaning depends on the extent of contamination and damage. Factors that affect pricing includes, the amount of fecal matter, the size of the attic, and whether disinfecting, deodorizing, or insulation replacement is required.
